A lot of similarities between that game and today.
Ward and King were both true Sophs and the games were in October. Both games were on the road and we were expected to lose (bigger underdogs today though). Most fans had given up on the season after a crushing close conference loss the week before. Both guys were also wide receivers the week before (of course Ward took over in relief the week before).
Look at the stats:
Ward
17/28 (61%), 188 yards, 1/1 TD/INT, 6.8 yards per attempt
17 carries, 5.6 ypc, 1 TD
King
12/20 (60%), 137 yards. 1/0 TD/INT, 6.7 yards per attempt
20 carries, 4.2 ypc, 1 TD
The final score for both games was exactly the same too. 28-24. Let's hope this one ends as well for King and the Coogs!
