So what would be your rationale for UH not making the playoffs with an undefeated season?
I will give you mine for the opposite to happen.
At game one we should be ranked around 12th or so with OU ranked in the top 5, and perhaps close to the top.
We beat a top 5 team and we immediately should move up to top 8 and perhaps better.
That means that if we go undefeated for 12 more games and win the AAC for the 2nd time in a row that we would not move up 4 or more spots. That just does not seem logical to me.
Last year the CFP committee could get away with rookie doing the G5 representative, us. We started way behind in the polls. We were unproven. We had no national cache and there was the CPF bias against any G5 team.
All of that changes this year. First, the committee realized after UH destroyed Florida State that they had made a big mistake with UH. They looked so silly that they have added a second member to the committee with a G5 background. This will provide a second voice and vote which should provide less bias toward an undefeated G5 team with victories over OU and Louisville.
This is just my opinion backed up by some factual data to date. We will just have to let it play out to be sure. But we are starting way ahead of where we started last year in the polls. We will have some national cache because of us being there to start the season and less CFP committee bias. We just have to win.
