As I sit in my wonderfully air-conditioned truck, waiting for the end of practice for post practice interviews I thought I'd throw a few thoughts together.
The toughest camp in the country mantra was somewhat evident even during warm-ups as there is always a constant barking from coaches and support staff, pushing players to push themselves.
I took a lot of photos, I'm sure I didn't get everyone but will work over the first few practices to make sure we get photos of everyone.
One thing you will notice is all newcomers will have a blue stripe down the center of their helmets and will have a "big brother" on the team. Once it is deemed that they have earned their way onto the team, there will be a ceremony of sorts and the "big brother" will rip the blue stripe off of the young players helmet. Nothing earth shattering there but definitely yet another thing the staff has added that will develop team chemistry.
Everyone that was expected to be here is here now and there is one addition coming to the roster, likely this week. Anybody remember Fort Bend Marshall 2015 RB Davon Crookshank? He had an offer from Houston but committed to Wisconsin. Evidently he was a very late qualifier and Wisconsin's loss will be Houston's gain. Expect his addition to the roster soon.
I've also heard JUCO OL James Works has finished his final class and as soon as that is processed he will likely join the team, probably in about a week.
One recruiting visitor I did see was Blinn JC DB JJ Dallas who we will try and follow up and get some more information on. I'm told there are 5 spots left in the 2016 class and a couple of those are earmarked for JUCO OL so we will have to sit down and look at the numbers. Obviously Terry Mark and James Works count as a couple of those spots but we will work in clearing up exactly where everything stands with that.
We didn't see a ton as they are still in shorts and helmets but everyone was excited to get out there and get going again
I'll work at putting some photos together and come back and add some more after practice is over.
