Well, the Cougars did put together a very good second half effort today in Cincinnati and nearly pulled off the game tying/winning drive. There was some great effort put forward at times on both sides of the ball. Kenneth Farrow continued his tremendous second half of the season and sets the Cougars up with a nice returning running back stable returning for next season. Greg Ward continued to do what he has done. He may not be the best passing quarterback in the country but the kid is just fun to watch and is a play maker. It will be interesting to see the quarterback battle in the spring and fall with a ton of talent on hand in Ward, O'Korn, Fenimore and Hicks.
All of that being said, lets address the elephant in the room. After conversations over the last couple of days, it seems as though there is a 100% percent chance there will be changes to the staff. I think that number is equally high that Travis Bush is not back with the team next season. I think right now there is a real likely chance that Tony Levine is let go outright. IF (big if) Tony Levine remains as the head coach I don't think David Gibbs will be back. I'm not sure if David Gibbs wants to be a head coach but I know there are some big schools with deep pockets that are coming after him. If he desires to be a head coach, he deserves to be on the list of potential candidates should Levine be fired.
It is a tough spot for the Houston Cougar fan base and I think it is safe to assume the majority are ready for change. I feel like they have shown as much with their attendance at home games and their opinions on message boards.
With all of that being said, we will wait and let this process play out. If/when Tony Levine is let go, we will put out a Hot Board of potential candidates and follow the process through.
