The WSJ did a study that showed college football ticket sales fell 3% last year in 2017 but that actual attendance fell even further.

On average actual attendance was 71% of the announced attendance you see in box scores.

And that varies quite a bit by school and by game. Central Michigan vs Toledo, for example, only had 45% actual attendance.
