I have had some thoughts that this coaching money outlay is some kind of preparation for what is to come about due to a possible future conference expansion or realignment. I think our Admin/TF know something is coming and soon and this is the first visible signs of preparation for it. I just do not see this kind of expenditure going down without something cooking on the back burner. Perhaps it is the TV deal but something could be up in my opinion.
If it is conference expansion know there are some who do not see stadium expansion/improvement as a necessary item when we do get into a P5 conference and perhaps it isn't. But if UH were to announce plans to increase/improve our stadium capacity to 50k that would seal the deal for me as being confirmation that we have something going for us in respect to a new P5 conference or we are getting more TV money than we initially thought. Stadium improvement/expansion would show the prospective conferences that we are totally capable of being a member in good standing and have the ability to remain so if given the invitation. We have fired the first salvo with hiring a P5 coach/staff. If something is on the horizon expanding our stadium to accommodate the attendance uptick which would surely come with the increase of our P5 schedule would be a reaffirming follow up of our capability and future intentions.
