As a junior, Austyn led his team to the 3A state title while winning the individual state title by 7 shots. Shot 69-68 at Grey Rock in Austin.

He finished 2nd at the Jordan Spieth Championships in June and 2nd again the Hunter Mahan tourney in Frisco. Both are big-time AJGA events. He did all this as a 16 year old.
