There are some of the ESPN 30 for 30 programs that I have really enjoyed, one of which was The U. The U was a documentary of the rise of the University of Miami's football program in the 80's and 90's. Last night I watched The U: Part 2. Again, I really enjoyed the program. The first program was primarily about the Schnellenberger, Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson years. Part 2 was about the following years, both Butch Davis and Larry Coker were prominently featured. Part 2 is very flattering to Davis, not so much to Coker. Davis is portrayed as a guy who changed the culture there, cleaned up the program, brought in a lot of talent even though they were on probation and had a reduced number of scholarships to give. Coker is portrayed as a bus driver who delivered Davis' players to the stadium so they could win the national championship.
Given Davis was mentioned as a candidate for our job, I was a bit more interested in his story at Miami. Also, it was Coker's UTSA team that set the tone for the 2014 Houston season.
