The Houston staff put together what was essentially two junior days on Saturday though it was technically just one junior day. They started during the same time that The Opening in Houston was going on
This junior day was informal but very informative session for the recruits and was arguably one of the more talented groups that have come through campus for a junior day in the last couple of years.
The Setup
Houston utilized TDECU Stadium to host junior day, no real surprise there. They brought the players into the stadium, did the check in and then sat down and ate lunch. The tables were organized by recruiting coaches, so all of the recruits sat down and ate lunch with their respective recruiters.
UH had pool tables, arcade games, juke boxes, air hockey all kinds of flashy goodies set up in the club level where the recruits could hang out and mingle with one another and enjoy the club level.
After lunch, coach Applewhite addressed everyone, introduced the staff. From there the parents went on to do an academic presentation while the players met with the offensive/defensive staff by positions and while that was going on another group was doing video head shots in the locker room and another group was doing a tour. When they came back everyone sat down watched some highlights and then went off.
After that group was finished, the kids that took part in the opening and wanted to come check out UH were invited in for what was essentially a round two for the Houston staff with little to no rest or recovery time from the first group to the next.
Haven't Compiled a Complete List Yet but these are the off the noggin names that were in attendance for Houston's junior day on Saturday. All the kids that trickled in from the opening basically did the same set up as the first group, just in smaller numbers. So basically it was a two junior day kind of day. The staff put a lot of work and time into it and have gotten a lot of positive reactions from the recruits via social media.
New Offers
Jaylon Robinson - Robinson is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound wide receiver from Fort Worth (TX) Paschal. He is a current Texas Tech commit. He was on hand today at Houston's junior day and received an offer on Saturday.
Bryson Jackson - Jackson is a three-star receiver from Houston (TX) St. Pius X. Houston is his fifth offer, he also holds offers from Miami, Nebraska, Notre Dame and TCU (there may be a few more unreported offers that need updated)
Rafiti Ghirmai - Ghirmai is a Rivals.com three-star offensive lineman from Frisco (TX) Wakeland. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound big man was on hand and picked up an offer on Saturday.
Joseph Ossai - 6-foot-4, 210-pound defensive end Joseph Ossai was on hand and picked up an offer this weekend. The Conroe (TX) Oak Ridge product now holds offer from Houston, Baylor, Colorado, Northwestern, Oklahoma, TCU and Texas Tech to name a few. He is the former teammate of Houston signee Grant Stuard.
Tommy Bush - Bush is a 6-foot-5, 185-pound receiver from Shertz (TX) Clemens in addition to his recent Houston offer he also has offers from Arizona, Baylor, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, SMU and TCU to name a few.
Attendees
This is an informal and off the noggin group as I've not yet completed compiling the complete list of prospects that were on hand. But these are the ones I have thus far worth noting.
Exluding the players above that were already mentioned the below players were on hand for Houston's junior day.
The most interesting name to note is that of Corona (CA) four-star quarterback Tanner McKee who was in town for the opening. He visited campus on Friday and toured the facilities and campus and then came back today after the camp to check out the campus again and go through the motions of Houston's junior day. He seems to have a great deal of interest in Houston. He's listed at 6-foot-6, 220-pound and I'm not so sure he's not too far from it if he's not 6-foot-6. He's every bit of 6-foot-5. He also throws a really nice ball. Be sure to check out an analysis on Mckee from Rivals.com below.
