The Cougars hosted several prospects for unofficial visits on Thursday in a group that featured several talented prospects from the 2020 and 2021 classes.
2020 Prospects
Smith is a recent offer from Houston who now sees his offer count up to four listed offers. Houston joins the likes of Louisiana-Monroe, Tulsa and Texas Southern. Smith was a first team all-district nomination in 2018 for Stafford High School.
Nwankwo was a previous commitment for 2020 to the previous staff. He's recently opened things up, but the new staffs efforts to get him on campus should help at least keep Houston in the mix going forward. Also has offers from Arkansas, Baylor, LSU and Texas Tech to name a few. He was the district defensive MVP for Richmond (TX) Foster in 2018. Word on the street is he's close with former Coog Joey Mbu. Definitely feels like Houston is right in the thick of things for this one despite the recent decommitment.
Wooten is a close friend of 2021 Houston target Latrell Neville who was also on campus Thursday. Wooten also has offers from SMU, Syracuse, Tulsa and Vanderbilt. Had 79 tackles, 22 tackles-for-loss and 11 sacks earning himself a first team all-district nod in 2018. He's recently visited SMU and Texas A&M on unofficials.
Stout was part of the group that made the trip in from North Shore on Thursday. Previously had a lone offer of Utah State, but was just offered by Louisiana-Monroe today.
2021 Prospects
Davis is a 2021 QB that's already generating a lot of buzz nationally. He holds 13 offers including Houston. In addition to the Coogs, Arkansas, Baylor, Florida State, LSU, SMU and Texas A&M have all offered among others. It's still early for the 2021 standout, but Houston being the hometown team, getting in on him early and getting him on campus early could pay dividends down the line.
Banks is a North Shore teammate of Davis and the 2021 WR has already seen his offer count reach 20. In addition to Houston, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and USC are some of the other programs that have offered.
Richmond (TX) Foster standout Cody Jackson was another prospect on hand for the class of 2021. He already has over ten offers including the likes of Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon and Texas Tech to name a few. As a sophomore last season Jackson hauled in 53 receptions for 1,053 yards and 12 TD's. We have him listed as an RB, but hearing he may play WR at the next level.
A player that very well may end up being one of the top WR's for the class of 2021 was on campus as well. Houston (TX) Willowridge standout Latrell Neville is already over 25 offers. Joining Houston are the likes of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, FSU, Georgia, LSU, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech plus more.
Neville has been on campus multiple times and will likely return again in the future. Houston was in on him early and continues to remain in the picture as things continue to heat up for the 2021 standout.
