The Houston Cougars recently offered Humble (TX) WR Robert Williams and his close proximity to campus and familiarity with not only UH but the city of Houston make him an interesting name to keep an eye on as the 2021 cycle moves on.
Covid-19 has certainly changed the landscape of college recruiting this spring and we very well could see that extended into the summer months as well but Williams continues to enjoy the process and says this unique situation has afforded him more time to research each school recruiting him.
"It’s been good but bad because all the craziness", Willians said of the Covid-19 situation. "But it’s good bc I have more time to talk and learn more about each school and coach."
"The recruiting process has been crazy these past few weeks I’ve been talking to a lot of coaches," he added.
Williams holds three offers currently from Houston, Louisiana Tech and Texas State.
"The schools that have been recruiting me the hardest is Texas state and UofH because I have full convos with those school often and I have talked to more than one of the coaches on the coaching staffs."
Houston's staff has taken a personable approach with Williams' recruitment and so far it seems to be paying off.
"My relationship with Houston is wonderful it’s a lot of great things we talk about and they are real cool guys almost like they're not recruiting me they’re just my friends."
Williams doesn't have any visits lined up and given the current landscape of recruiting who knows when that can change, but he did tell us that he will definitely be looking forward to visiting both Houston and Texas State once things return to normal.
As far as a decision timeline don't expect anything soon. According to Williams his decision likely won't come until sometime during his senior year.
