Okay so let's review some of the rumors. Big XII if expansion to 12 occurs could increase chances of the playoff by 21 percent by going to an 8 game schedule and holding a conference championship game.

The Longhorns want to keep their precious network. TCU and Tech are rumored to be holding up expansion, but that can change and TCU may be the one to do so leaving UT and Tech with the only negative votes.
The Big XII is rumored to see the writing on the wall and there seems to be more and more acceptance that the conference needs their own network to compete in college football in the future. Teams in the Big XII would be foolish to wait to see the day where they are already behind and try to catch up as another conference may come calling and fold the league.
My question is, has the UH PAC been successful at applying any pressure to UT to include UH in an expansion scenario? If so, then consider the following thought as I don't claim to see all the angles and this may be foolhardy at best. What if, the UH PAC was successful in selling the fact that UT can keep the LHN by adding UH to the Big XII?
Currently, it is assumed that the Big XII has Houston covered. We know there are tons of us who don't watch or care much about the Big XII currently, so from a fan interest standpoint we disagree with that statement. However, UT is the reason many assume that Houston is covered as there is a large amount of interest in the region. (Someone may have the Nielson rankings they can post).
Also, they want to keep a lot of content on their own network. So let them have it. Then assume there is a void in content in the City of Houston on the newly founded Big XII Network. Who could help the Big XII Network gain a foothold in the 10th largest media market? UH of course.
Now add in Cincinnati or UConn (assuming 12 team expansion) as a travel partner for West Virginia and you have expanded the footprint of the conference and given WVU a little relief from a travel standpoint. Now split off into separate divisions and add UH to the North. Each team in the North now has access to Houston recruits, a 21 percent better chance at gaining a team in the CFP, a Big XII network, and a CCG with divisional play.
This idea gains merit from UT essentially being an independent like Notre Dame in the ACC, but they are still a part of the conference and they get to keep their network which the Big XII let them have in the first place.
Thoughts?
