Most of you know by now the big news of the day we've all been waiting on when Tyler (TX) Tyler Lee QB Chance Amie made the announcement he was committing to Houston.
The X-Factor
Rivals.com analyst Nick Krueger touched on it some in his post leading up to the announcement but I heard from someone close to the situation that Houston's offensive coordinator Brian Johnson was a huge x-factor in Amie's decision and a huge reason that he ultimately committed to Houston. I was also told that it wasn't so much the Dak Prescott angle but the way that Johnson talked to Amie about the offense and how he could be used.
How Big is this Commitment?
This could ultimately end up being the biggest commitment of the class. There's a very realistic chance that Amie won't stay a three-star by the time all is said and done. I think he's very underrated. Physical talent wise Amie is arguably one of the most talented passers the Cougars have landed in the last several years. That's not to say he doesn't have areas to improve, but we've seen a great deal of growth from him already and the things like footwork and release that he needs to work on are all very coachable traits that can be corrected at the next level. He's a mobile quarterback similar to a Greg Ward, but a much bigger frame and a better arm coming out of high school.
The biggest thing that this commitment could potentially do is lure a few big names late. It will be interesting to see how things unfold over the course of the next few weeks to months now that Houston has their highly coveted QB.
We'll have more on Amie to come.
