There is no question that the AAC is undervalued when it comes to getting what we are worth in a tv contract. Add in the crummy bowl contracts and the question is legitimate. Is Mike Aresco overpaid?
I think we have to wait until the next round of tv and bowl contract negotiations to find out the answer in my opinion. If Aresco gets us 6-10 million per school on a new tv deal and some better bowl gigs then I think we can look at part of his current salary as an advance against future results. But if he does not come through with a better deal in both areas then in my opinion we are paying him too much for what he is capable of producing. Any commissioner in one of the lower conferences could have done the same job for far less money. Conversely, I don't think any head honcho in one of the P5 leagues could have done much better to this point either. It all depends on what happens next.
