Pitt, who is in the middle of a coaching search to replace Paul Chryst, fired AD Steve Pederson today.
It's usually a combination of things (for example, Pitt's revolving door of football coaches), but apparently the straw that broke the camel's back was that school leaders did not like the direction of the search to replace Chryst.
So now Pitt will hire a new AD, and the new AD will hire the next football coach. Fascinating.
