Someone asked about admissions data earlier.

I notice that our SAT minimums for assured admissions have been raised. I assume this has something to do with the new SAT scoring.

HS Class Rank - SAT Min - ACT Min
11-25% - 1080 (used to be 1000) - 21
26-50% - 1170 (used to be 1100) - 24

There appears to be a scale adjustment of 75 points or so. The ACT minimum did not change.

In the fall of 2016, the last year where the old scale was used exclusively, UH's average freshman SAT was 1145.

For the fall of 2017, some students used scores from the old test. And some used scores from the new test. The average SAT at UH was 1195 which is a blend of the two test scales.

For the fall of 2018, all students took the new test. It will be interesting to see what the new average will be. I assume that 1145 + 75 scale adjustment = around 1220.

Since the ACT did not change, it may be better to use that metric to compare classes even though only 40% of the UH freshmen take the ACT (compared to 80% for the SAT).

2015 = 25.5
2016 = 25.5
2017 = 25.0
2018 = ?
