It was pretty muggy out there today but that didn't change the pace or tempo any from the staff or players.
First off, it was great to see Joey Mbu back out at practice today, he said it was his first practice as he has been training a lot as the Falcons get ready for upcoming OTAs.
He and Ed Oliver watched a lot of the d-line drills together and I tweeted out a picture (sorry it is a crappy picture):
As I talked about before I was going to work on watching the o-line some today and I am hoping to talk to coach Warehime after practice today.
The early offensive sets looked like this:
OL (L-R) Josh Jones, Mason Denley, Will Noble, Cam Eloph, Na'Ty Rodgers. Isaiah Johnson and Chance Allen were split out right with Steven Dunbar by himself on the left and McCloskey was the TE offset to the right. Ward and Catalon were in the backfield.
The second team offense:
OL (L-R) Marcus Oliver, Josh Thomas, Will Noble, Mac Long and Jarrid Williams. Second set of receivers were Bonner and Mark on the right with Derek McLemore on the left. Postman and was in an empty backfield. At one point Bonner came off< Mark went to the left side with McLemore and Alex Leslie came in, offset to the left with the other receivers. They may have started with Kokuma but when they were in the jumbo set empty backfield, Josh Burrell was the back.
I didn't get to see much from the defensive end of the field today unfortunately.
As for recruits, Alex Fontana was out there and should be wrapping up his official visit soon, he must make decision asap. Keep an eye out for a potential Boom on that front tonight/tomorrow. I also saw Klein Collins offensive guard Dante Bivens out there. He is one the staff is looking to get a solid eval on and he could be a guy that gets an offer depending on their approach at interior guys for the class.
Clarification as well on the confirmed last scholarship available for the 2016 class. There is only one left and it is extended to Fontana. The other situation is pretty much over with LTT.
Until next time...
