Hey Guys: I was at last Friday's game between Judson and Steele, and got a good look at Julon Williams in a game for the first time. As I'm sure most of you know, he's a pretty dynamic athlete that could be used at a couple of skill positions offensively. He had a nice game against a team that's just off a state championship appearance with many of its top defensive players back from last season.
I only had the chance to talk to him briefly as he was off to the locker room after the game, but here is what he had to say about things:
Updating on things with Houston
"It's real good. I've just been staying in contact with the coaches and I've been getting a lot of support Coach G [receivers coach Kenny Guiton] and Coach (Major) Applewhite."
What he's seen from Houston on the field
"They've looked real good this season," he said. "I really like their spread sets and I think they can get the ball in my hands. They're looking really dynamic."
He said the schools still recruiting him hardest right now include: Oklahoma State, Texas, TCU and Virginia. He added that he was taking a (presumably) official visit to Utah this weekend for the Utes' game against Stanford.
Something else to watch for is how serious Texas starts to get about recruiting him. He mentioned that the Longhorns' interest has been picking up, but as of his game last week, had no plans to make a visit. Rondale Moore has been thought to have been reconsidering his commitment, and Jaylen Waddle isn't thought to be leaning Texas at the moment, making Williams a possible target should those two not work out.
