Cougars Den's Baileigh Sheffield caught up with Lancaster (TX) offensive tackle Joseph Amos for a quick recruiting update and we've got the latest for you.
Offers
Amos has 16 offers including Georgia Tech, Hawaii, Houston, Kansas, North Texas, SMU, Southern Miss and Wyoming to name a few.
Timeline
Amos told Sheffield that he has no set timeline on a commitment and will likely decide sometime after the season on a team that he feels is an overall good fit.
The Scoop
Amos tells Cougars Den that he really wants to get out of the state of Texas. The Cougars have been one of the schools recruiting him the hardest and coach Brandon Jones has been the one recruiting him the most. The Cougars have been pitching early playing time if he continues to work hard. Georgia Tech is another school that's been recruiting the Lancaster product pretty heavily.
Amos has continued to work out from home during Covid-19 and goes to the park every night to run.
He told us he does not prefer to go to school in Houston and expressed a desire to leave the state, but he did note that he does like the Houston program and offensive line coach Brandon Jones. He also said that Houston would get consideration when it came time to committing, but at this point it really feels like Houston may have a lot of work cut out for them given Amos' desire to attend school out of state. But the Cougars have traditionally recruited Lancaster well so I wouldn't necessarily rule them out just yet.
