Okay guys here's an update with the latest on the recruiting trail. Unfortunately I'm still having trouble getting in touch with the majority of the guys from last weekend outside of short text messages and twitter messages. But we are still working on getting them and once we get them we'll have a full update.

Noah Jones

Though, we haven't yet got him for a full feature, in the short texts and DM's we've exchanged trying to set something up he's displayed nothing but extreme excitement about UH. He was very excited during his official visit and was talking good about UH to other recruits, etc... His commitment wasn't a surprise based on some of the feedback I received. Long story short, this guy is ready to sign and about as solid as they come.

New Commitment

As you probably heard Houston picked up a commitment late last night. I've been asked to hold off on releasing the information until he decides to make his announcement. All I can tell you is it's someone expected to come in and play cornerback. He wants to do some kind of announcement with a good friend of his who also happens to be a Houston commit.

Linebacker Situation

The Cougars have taken a tremendous blow at the linebacker position over the last month. They'll look to add three at that position. Here's a few names to watch out for over the last few weeks of the recruiting cycle. These are the top three guys Houston is targeting over the final weeks to replace the three departed commits.

Bryson Jackson - Mansfield (TX) Lake Ridge LB is a 6-foot-3, 204-pound linebacker that I'm told his a hybrid combo with a mix of Tyus Bowser and Steven Taylor. He's currently committed to Minnesota but will be visiting Houston this weekend. Holds 15 offers total from the likes of Houston, Minnesota, Air Force, Baylor, Boise State, Colorado and Colorado State to name a few. Keep an eye out for him this weekend.

Grant Stuard - This is a guy that coacfh D'Onofrio loves. He's like a rover similar to the role that Terre Bernard was going to fill. He can play in space, make plays in the box and also be used as a situational rusher. He's a guy that can make plays all over the football field.

David Anenih - Arlington (TX) Timberview linebacker is a 6-foot-3, 223-pound hybrid DE/LB combo. would fill the void left by Marquez Bimage. Holds 13 offers, in addition to Houston also has offers on the table from Boise State, ECU, Iowa State, Kansas State, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma State, Rice, Southern Miss, UTSA, Texas Tech and Tulane.

Sam Cosmi

Cosmi is a guy that this staff has identified as a must keep, long before the other decommitments he was one guy they did not want to see go. Not that they wanted to see any of them go, but he's the one guy this staff really feels like they need to retain. Cosmi hasn't shown any reason to believe he's wavering. His two offers remain Houston and Memphis, he recently took his official visit to Houston, and hosted both schools for in-home visits over the last week. He's grown very close to Dennis Bardwell who remains very strong to Houston. He may be worth watching, but as of now I don't think there's anything to be too alarmed about. But I know the staff has him at the top of their list.

This Weekend

As of today Houston's expecting 16 prospects on campus this weekend for their official visits including what will amount to around ten commitments plus some other top targets.

We expect to have more on Houston's recent commits and the official visits, hopefully we'll have better luck getting in touch with prospects this weekend.
