Good afternoon guys, have another update for you on the recruiting front. Today we'll analyze one of Houston's newest offers, talk a little about Applewhite's approach to recruiting, we'll talk about an intriguing prospect to watch in the next week as well as a preview heading into next weeks official visit weekend. Things have still been kind of quiet, but will begin picking up quite a bit over the next several weeks heading into signing day.

Quick Thoughts on Major Applewhite's Recruitment Thus Far

Since taking over as head coach in December, new Houston head man Major Applewhite has been very hands on with recruiting. He's put a big emphasis on building and fostering relationships with parents and everyone involved with Houston's targets. He's been highly involved on a daily basis with phone calls as well. It's not really different from the approach that Herman had, but Applewhite is making it all about relationships, but wants to keep parents, grandparents and anyone involved as a big part of the process.

New OL Offer Out

Houston has offered Southlake (TX) Carroll offensive tackle Henry Klinge. Klinge is a Rivals.com three-star prospect that checks in at 6-foot-5, 280-pounds. Both of his parents at West Point grads. Klinge would prefer to stay in the state of Texas. He currently holds offers from Baylor, Bowling Green and North Texas in addition to his most recent offer from Houston. He picked up the offer yesterday and Applewhite had plans to speak with both parents last night. Don't be surprised if you see his name added to one of the official visit lists.

On the field Klinge possesses a high level of football intelligence and comes with positional flexibility in that he can play inside and outside at both guard and tackle. Pretty athletic along the offensive line. Would give Houston some versatility if he decided to sign with Houston.

If you haven't seen it yet, you can watch Klinge's senior highlights below.

Name to Watch

Another recent offer that went out was to 6-foot-5, 245-pound athlete Max Cummins. Cummins is another versatile athlete. We have him listed as a tight end in our database and though he has a very modest two-star rating at tight end, may actually project better on the defensive side of the ball. Houston likes him as a defensive end. Cummins currently holds offers from Army, Brown, Columbia, UConn and most recently Houston. He's scheduled to visit with the small group of prospects coming in next weekend.

His highlights are below.

Sneak Peek to Next Weekend

Obviously things could change from now to next weekend but Houston will be hosting a small group of highly coveted prospects in the opening weekend of official visits. Here's the projected lineup for next weekend barring any changes.
