With the regular season now officially in the rear view mirror for Houston, the Cougars and head coach Major Apple will temporarily shift their focus to the recruiting trail and trying to shape out the 2018 signing class prior to the December 20th early signing period.
With the current commits Houston already has the Cougars have three spots left for the class of 2018 and are heavily pursuing a trio of talented playmakers to fill those final three spots.
There's a handful of players to keep an eye on when it comes to those final spots. The top three guys remaining on Houston's board heading into the early signing period are as follows.
Lawrence Keys - Keys has been a hot target for several months now and Houston head coach Major Applewhite and his staff would love nothing more than to secure the commitment of Keys to help fill out the final three spots. The Rivals three-star WR from New Orleans (LA) will be visiting Houston this weekend on an official visit with a host of other visitors (more on that below)
Gleson Sprewell - Mesa (AZ) Mesa Community College safety Gleson Sprewell is another top target for Houston. Gleson has been a hot target for the last month after Houston offered him on Nov. 12. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound safety will be another guest this weekend in town for his official visit with Houston.
Jalyn Galmore - Fulton (MS) Itawamba Community College offensive lineman Jalyn Galmore is another interesting name to watch. Galmore is a current UTSA commit, but Houston has him near the top of the list when it comes to remaining prospects. He's already taken his official visit to UTSA last month on Nov. 18. I talked with Jalyn briefly and it appears the interest is mutual and he is listening to Houston's pitches despite being committed to UTSA, though he has not scheduled any official visit as of this evening to Houston. He'll be an interesting name to watch over the next few weeks as the process moves forward, he's a December grad so the Cougars basically have December to win him over in an effort to flip his commitment. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a late addition to this weekends visitors or if he came in to visit at a different time, but as of now nothing is scheduled.
Here's the List of Expected Visitors for this Weekend as of Wednesday Evening
