Houston has been hitting the defensive tackles hard in the pre summer months of recruiting. One prospect that's taken notice of how heavily Houston has been after him is Cedar Hill (TX) DT Shabazz Dotson who told me Houston is one of the schools coming at him the hardest.
"Houston has been coming at me real hard" he said. "They've been one of the three schools that have really been recruiting me the hardest."
The 6-foot-3, 270-pound metroplex standout boasts an impressive offer list that includes the likes of Duke, Houston, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas State, Michigan, North Texas and Texas Tech. He's a Rivals.com three-star defensive tackle and is ranked as the 42nd best player in the state of Texas and 24th best defensive tackle nationally.
Dotson went on to tell me that he's looking for a family type atmosphere at the next level and is interested in seeing how Houston does this season. He also talked a lot about A.J. Blum and the talent that he's worked around saying "He has a really good track record with defensive linemen."
In regards to his decision, he said as it stands now Houston is definitely in the mix as one of his top schools, though he he's not sure on when he'll officially start to narrow things down. He wants to plan a few more visits and check out some of his other recent offers but the vibe I get from Dotson is that Houston should be in the mix down to the days of his decision.
