I've been saying for the last month or two that the Houston staff feels like they're in a good spot with Chaney. They've already conducted their in-home visit with him and are hosting him for his official visit this weekend. The biggest threat to Houston was considered to be Missouri, he visited Columbia, Missouri in October and while he did have a good visit, Houston has done a good job keeping their efforts at recruiting Chaney.

Chaney told me that he has yet to schedule an in-home visit with Missouri and isn't sure if he'll have one. His official visit to Houston is this weekend and they've done the best job recruiting him the hardest and everything I'm hearing from talking to multiple people including Chaney indicates that he'll sign with Houston during the early period.

Chaney himself who typically keeps things pretty close to the vest didn't tell me his intent to sign but I heard from one person close to the situation that he was told Chaney communicated with the Houston staff that he will be signing with them during the early signing period.

So at this point, I would be very surprised if he's not part of Houston's signing class after the early signing period.

Spoke with Nunnery again following his playoff game over the weekend. His in-home visit plans still remain somewhat fluid as his team advanced again following a 36-7 win over Georgetown in College Station, Texas. Nunnery had a pretty solid game from the safety position finishing with five solo tackles and an INT. Shadow Creek will play in TDECU Stadium on Saturday at 2:00 PM against Richmond (TX) Foster. Nunnery said they'll likely iron out the in-home visit once his season wraps up. Still seems pretty solid to Houston.

Expect Some JUCO Movement

I'm told that Houston will look to target some players from the JUCO ranks with a priority at CB and DL. They've already identified several JUCO CB prospects to target, I'm told they are still evaluating the DL so you should see some movement here pretty soon, but here are a few notable names to keep an eye on that picked up some new Houston offers.

Houston is trying to make a push for current four-star and LSU commit Dreshun Miller with the opportunity to sell early playing time. Miller is one of the top defensive back prospects in the JUCO ranks. He's been committed to LSU since June and in addition to LSU and Houston also holds offers from Auburn, Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas Tech and West Virginia.

Another player they're trying to make a push late for is current Washington State CB commit Derrick Langford from City College of San Francisco in California. Langford has only been committed to Washington State for a couple of weeks. He holds offers from, Washington State, Hawaii, Houston, Liberty and Rutgers.

Houston entered the fold for El Dorado (KS) Butler Country Community College cornerback Tay Gowan with a new offer. Gowan originally signed with Miami of Ohio out of the class of 2016 prior to going the JUCO route. He's now armed with 14 offers which includes Houston, SMU and most recently UCF to name a few. He could be an intriguing name to watch down the stretch.
