Caught up with a couple of Houston's WR targets for 2018 for some quick updates on where they stand and Houston's current status going forward. Here's a quick update on a few of Houston's top WR targets.
Miles Battle - Battle continues to garner a ton of attention nationally as one of the Houston area's top prospects. The Houston (TX) Cy-Creek standout now has offers from 25-plus programs from across the country including the hometown Cougars who were one of the early ones in on Battle's recruitment.
Right now Battle says he's just focused on learning what he can about all of the programs that have offered him and taking visits when and where he can to learn more.
Lists no current favorites - "I haven't really started to cut things down yet, but I'll probably start trimming the list down some over the summer after I get a chance to take a few more visits."
According to battle the Cougars are still in the mix, but he's also taken a great deal of interest in TCU and LSU as he's eager to see where those two programs stack up this season. In an update last year we listed Michigan State and Houston as his top two programs and he says both are still in the picture going forward. We'll have to see if Houston makes the cut this summer when he starts to narrow his options down.
Ja'Kori Morgan - Houston is still in good standing with Houston (TX) Clear Lake receiver Ja'Kori Morgan who holds offers from Houston, Army, Kansas State, New Mexico, Oregon State and McNeese State. Morgan has been to check out Houston and says he's impressed with Houston head coach Major Applewhite and the atmosphere around Houston - "I really like the atmosphere they have on campus and I think think coach [Major] Applewhite is going to keep things going in the right direction."
Duo to Watch - a few players worth watching as things move forward is New Orleans (LA) McDonough 35 wide receivers Jared Miles and Lawrence Keys who holds offers from Houston. Miles is a three star receiver that currently holds 15 offers which include Houston, Arkansas State, Oregon State, SMU, TCU, UTSA, Tulane, Virginia and West Virginia to name a few. While Keys is a bit more heavily recruited holding 25 offers including Houston, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, LSU and Miami to name a few. While not necessarily a package deal, the fact that Houston has offered both is something that may help their case when it comes to narrowing things down.
Falling out of Favor? - Houston may have moved to the outside looking in for Houston (TX) St. Pius X WR Bryson Jackson who has continued to receive a great deal of interest from programs outside the state of Texas. Jackson while he cites no top five at this point said that there are four teams that are really leading the way right now in Minnesota, TCU, Miami and Nebraska who have been recruiting him the hardest. Jackson says he may decide to name a top five or top ten over the summer, but could take things deep into the football season, he hasn't yet decided when he'll trim things down.
