Had a good conversation with someone close to Crosby (TX) running back Craig Williams today and got a little bit of insight on where his head is at right now in terms of recruiting. Based on what I was told it looks like Houston may have some ground to make up if they do want to secure his services.
I know we've talked about the situation and where the priorities are and running back hasn't been something they've been pushing a lot lately with some arguably bigger needs elsewhere, but they're obviously still recruiting the position and as mentioned Williams is a guy they would take if he wanted to commit (not trying to beat the dead horse).
I was told that Minnesota is making a strong case and that he really loves P.J. Fleck, a couple of other teams making strong cases that were mentioned were Utah, Texas Tech and Baylor where he's expected to visit in a few weeks. The last school mentioned was Houston, and I was told they're still in it, but it appears they have some ground to make up.
I was told that Williams plans on taking two or three official visits before making his final decision, Houston was a late offer compared to some of the other programs he's considering so there could be some ground to make up in terms of building that relationship. It will be interesting to see how the remainder of the summer unfolds.
