Finally had an opportunity to sit and chat with Ben Hicks tonight after the news of Levine. This kid is really disappointed and genuinely seems heartbroken about the news.
With that said, I talked to him about his thoughts on the firing which we'll have full quotes in my recruit reaction piece we'll be releasing in the next hour or two. But obviously he was close to Levine and is upset, but he did mention that he is still committed to the University of Houston and has not decommitted.
I talked to him about some of the rumors flying around our there about schools coming after him in particular the Chad Morris and SMU rumors and what he told me was he hasn't really talked to any other schools since the news broke and said specifically that he hasn't talked to anyone at SMU, Chad Morris or otherwise. He said he's not sure where the rumors came from but he hasn't had any contact with them and really with anyone with any other schools for that matter.
I talked to him about his original plans to enroll early at UH and, and he said as of now that's still the plan. He said he's worked too hard to graduate early and wouldn't want to wast that opportunity. So he's still planning on enrolling in January and while he's upset about the situation with Levine he still feels good about his situation with Houston.
