The post game interview with Bama's star receiver tells you all you need to know about Saban. The kid said, we did not win this game in the second half or even tonight, we won it last Spring and Summer preparing for this season.
Saban calls it "the process".
To equate that process with our situation, and that which Nebraska is presumably employing, you first have to determine what you want to be as a program. Nebraska clearly wants to contend for national championships periodically and is willing to part with a winning, well above average coach to achieve that goal.
Our AD has apparently said our expectations are too high. In my 35 year association with UH that is one of the few things I have never heard us accused of, and is a clear sign we need a new AD. This in a city long known for its bravado, for doing more with less, for its can do spirit and huge sense of entrepreneurship. Anyone who would utter those words in conjunction with any initiative in this city clearly does not understand their environment or people.
Glad our namesake never yelled "whoa" when facing a 5,500 strong Mexican army or Texas may never have existed.
It is a personal affront to every one of us and I do not want anyone with that mindset in our midst.
On this board we have speculated whether Mack, Khator or the BOR understands this issue well enough to act. Well, this is our university and it is incumbent upon each of us to demand excellence, to tell Khator that we believe in her vision ..... Are we committed to greatness or not?
Because if we are then nothing about our football program is acceptable, including both the HC and AD.
This notion that maybe TCL is acceptable if we get a good OC is bull. It ignores all the mindless bs that has occurred on his watch.
Let's get on with it. Hoping for a better tomorrow is not a strategy. This message - and not merely a "fire our coach" comment - needs to be conveyed to every BOR member and to Khator every time they show their face over the next 10 days.
