SMU summary to date - The OC is a former Grad assistant at Clemson. The DC (played at UT but graduated from UH) is a first time coordinator. I know Chad Morris will coordinate his own offense but it seems that SMU shot their wad on the salary for Morris and had to bargain hunt with the rest of the staff.

Tulsa summary to date - Not a single defensive coach has been hired despite the head start. Truly a Briles protégé. Every offensive staffer is from Phil's time at Baylor or Houston. Maybe validation of the concerns about Montgomery's lack of a coaching network?
While we have not filled out the remaining staff I think it is safe to say that by the end of the process we will have the best staff in the AAC and quite possibly in the entire G5. I would also say that we will have a superior staff to many of the mid-tier P5 schools as well. From the outside looking in it seems the Mensa man took less salary upfront in order to boost his assistant salary pool and he is putting that money to good use. In order to save some of the assistant salary pool for a heavy hitter at OC I could see Herman poaching both Vince Oghobaase (DL) (as mentioned on this board earlier) and Adrian Mayes (OL) from the Graduate Assistant ranks at OSU for our line coaches. It has been reported that in Urban Meyer's program he makes sure the coaching staff gets home at night to their families while making the GAs do most of the grunt work and film breakdown which would result in some unusually experienced GAs compared to most programs.
