Looks like our state has a shot at nine teams making the NCAA regionals. Seven are definitely in.
Hosts
A&M, TCU, Houston
Bubble Host
DBU (have fallen to 3 RPI, didn't win conference reg season or reach tourney final)
Definitely In
TSU, Rice, HBU/SHSU/A&MCC survivor (7/5/8 seeds, who'd have thought?)
Work to Do
UT/Baylor (one will play OSU/OU for auto bid), Texas St (undefeated, has to get by ULALA and either USA/Ark St to advance)
Maybe DBU gets a 1 seed and is sent to ASU or UVA (although that is a good landing spot if they give Radford a 1).
If we win two straight and take both the regular season and tourney in the 3rd best conference, we will have made as good a case to sneak in for a national seed as we could. Long shot, but Oregon State was RPI 14 and was the top seed last year (albeit with a great 1-50 record and higher poll ratings). We sit at 14 today and in a better-rated conference than they were last year. So maybe 8 seed isn't a pipe dream if we take care of business the next two days without a loss. OSU, A&M and FSU/Louisville winner probably need to not win their tourneys, though.
