One of these teams, USF, made his top 5. I guess the writer is looking at the losses and saying no way. He says these are not his predictions. (what else could it be) He would just be surprised. (OK?)
Two other AAC teams, Memphis and UCF, made his honorable mention. If Memphis does not repeat as a 10 game winner then that gives UH a better chance of being the division champs in the West. The reason being is that Memphis plays Mercer, Georgia State, South Alabama, and Missouri in their OOC schedule. So even if they go 3-1 in their OOC and finish 9-3, that means that two of their losses are going to come in conference.
I would give them wins over UConn, Tulane, and ECU. That would mean that they would go 3-2 with UCF, Tulsa, Navy, SMU, and UH. I like our chances of being one of the two out of that group who hang a loss on the Tigers. That should put us in position to win the west if everything else goes according to plan.
Of course things don't always work out the way you plan them but UH just needs the final numbers to work out that way. It won't matter if some of the wins and losses vary from team to team other than Memphis and UH that is.
