I posted this on the other site.

Back in the day the Utah Utes went undefeated twice over a five year span but was not allowed to play for the national championship. They did not belong to a "BCS" conference. In today's language they were G5. So, then Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff threatened to investigate the old BCS for possible antitrust violations. He had planned to meet with the US Department of Justice to discuss the matter. He said, "We're convinced the system as set up is anticompetitive." Sound familiar.

Sen. Orrin Hatch responded this way after Utah received a Pac 12 invite. "Look," Hatch said, "Utah moving to the Pac-10 doesn't mean that the BCS is suddenly good for college football. It doesn't mean that the legal concerns that many have expressed about the BCS have disappeared or that a system that favors some schools while systemically putting others at a disadvantage is suddenly well and good. Most Utahns — Ute fans included — understand the BCS is fundamentally anticompetitive and do not want Congress turning a blind eye to blatant violations of our nation's antitrust laws, whether they be in college football or elsewhere. Those concerns won't just go away because of today's news.

Sen Hatch is till correct today. There are still blatant violations of our nation's antitrust laws in my opinion, and the University of Houston is exhibit "A". The BCS no longer exists. It has been replaced by the CFP which continues to give P5 conference schools unfair advantage over schools that are in the G5 but who ARE READY TO MOVE UP TO THE P5 but can't because not one P5 conference will let them in. And it is time to do something about it.

Let's ask our friends to help us. If you are reading this more than likely you are a friend of the University of Houston. You know people and they have friends. We need to work our way up the chain of influence until we reach the top of our University's decision makers like Renu Khator, Tilman Fertitta, etc. These people have friends like Gov Greg Abbott, Lt Gov Dan Patrick, and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Why?

Because it is time to play the "Utah" card. We need to get into the club the way Utah got into the club. We need to threaten to go the antitrust violation route. Why? Because it is the right thing to do for our great university and our great state. Why? Because nothing else is working. Why? Because we and the state of Texas are going to lose hundreds of millions of dollars if we continue to do nothing. Why? Because our Texas leaders have made public declarations that they are already on our side. Why? Because we are ready. We have built the buildings, bought record amounts of tickets, attended the games in record numbers, and we live in the 3rd or 4th largest city in America and we check all the required P5 candidate boxes.

If you are a friend of the University of Houston, you know someone who can help. Ask for their help. It is time to get involved and ask those who can make a difference to do so and go all the way to the US Department of Justice if necessary.
