The most painful part of this season for me is that twice I thought CMA and this program had turned the corner and were on their way to being a good football team. Twice.
We looked pretty good in beating SMU at home. I thought the coaches and players had turned an important corner and that everything new was starting to gel. Then we suffered one of the most embarrassing losses in program history to a horrific Tulsa team. We didn't just lose, we got humiliated. Then the next weak we blow 2 different 17 point leads to Memphis at home. Despair set in again.
Then D'Eriq King gets on the field against USF, and we pull a major upset. I'm thinking it's the dawn of a new era at UH. We finally have our QB of the future. Strong win over ECU follows. And this time I just KNOW we've turned the corner. New QB and 2 strong wins in a row. I decide to make the trip to New Orleans because I am now believing in this program. It's exciting. Lots of red in the stadium yesterday. It felt like we were on the verge of something fun and permanent.
And then the horror of the same old unimaginative offense and terrible play calling returned. What a huge let down yesterday was.
