If you look at ACC, SEC, B10, B12, PAC12 for possible invites the PAC12 and B12 are our possible openings the B12 needs to add 2-4 teams over next 1-3 yrs. to get to 14 teams, PAC12 needs to add 2. If there plans do not include trying to poach current P5 teams away. CIN, HOU, BYU, UCF would have to be in the running with CIN the clear winner based on geography, performance across all sports, etc. If B12 moves first and takes CIN we would have to beat out BYU based on some reports that B12 has no interest in Florida. If BYU beat us out we would then have to compete with Boise, C State, SDSU and the like to get into PAC 12.
Does the PAC 12 really have an interest in Texas schools?
It will be interesting to see how this all flushes out over next few years and beyond if the standing rumor that ESPN is driving to 4 -16 team power conferences.
Immediately you want UH playing UT, Baylor and Tech again but in the long term if the 4-16 team "ESPN" conference plays out the PAC12 could likely beat out BIG 12.
Just some thoughts but everyone knows it is critical we are picked up by one of the Power 5 within the next 3 years.
AND if one of the current 14 teams conferences (ACC, B10, SEC) decides to got to 16 teams prior to Big12 or PAC12 expanding things will get real interesting.
