Looks like Anderson was the backup at Laney College.

Palandech (6 feet 2 inches, 180 pounds) beat out returning starter Garrett Anderson last season at Laney. Beam said Anderson had received attention from several colleges until then.
"(Palandech) didn't arrive till June, and everybody was looking at our quarterback from the year before," Beam said."
