OK, I see the point of those who think that there is some loss in our not attaining P5 status....and there is loss....of potential, not anything we had in the first place. You cannot lose what you never had and we have never had P5 status. It is a term that only belongs in the 21st century....no where else and we have never had it.
So, let's look at what we do have. We have a highly ranked, top notch, crowd exciting football team that is drawing record on campus attendance. We have a head coach and staff that the so called P5 club is drooling all over themselves when they think about him being at their place. But he isn't. He is at our place. Sure, many of the pundits (and some Coog fans) can pen stuff about seeing the writing on the wall. But that is just opportunistic click bait to draw attention to themselves and their writing. Bottom line is.....they want him but we have him, period. But, but, but....no buts! Until the day comes that we don't.....we do, and that is a fact, Jack!
And think about this with me. How many 13-1 seasons do most coaches get to enjoy over his coaching career? If things break right, CTH is going to have another one....back to back! He has caught lightning in a bottle at the University of Houston. He better think long and hard about leaving a place where he can go 26-2 his first two years. Those kinds of results are not low hanging fruit to be found on trees at just any campus. Sure, he is a special coaching talent. But talent must find the right opportunity to rise to the top. CTH has found such an opportunity here at UH. He must be very careful before he turns loose of it here to make sure he can find another one somewhere else.
What else have we NOT lost? Well, for another thing, we have not lost another one of our best recruiting classes in a long time. We have an outstanding class of recruits on campus for the 2016 season. We have another outstanding class on the way. They all have one thing in common. They want what they can get and they and their parents have come to the conclusion that the only place they can find what they want is on Cullen Blvd. at the University of Houston. We have not lost anything that these kids and their parents are wanting. They want it and we have it and they are lining up and calling up and pledging up to play for the Cougars!
I could go on but I think I have made my point. We have not lost anything. We still have everything we had when we woke up on Monday morning.
