Back in 2008 Mike Aresco then a tv executive with CBS helped ink a 10 year contract for the Army-Navy game. Said contract expires after the last game on December 8, 2018. So, I am wondering if CBS, wanting to hang onto this ratings prize, will be one of the players bidding on the new AAC tv contract along with ESPN?
Aresco is on record saying that renegotiating will be next year in 2018. Of course that could change but 2018 is right around the corner.
Could the AAC get enough to attract a BYU? Would Army have an interest to join and stick it out this time around?
Would Boise have an interest and would they play nice, not trying to get more than their conference brothers? The AAC is clearly head and shoulders above the rest of the non P5 conferences and growing stronger, especially with all the upgrades to facilities, etc. The Big 10 even validates some of our schools as P5 for scheduling purposes. Could better bowl contracts be in our future? Aresco did get UH in the Las Vegas Bowl. I see a much better tv deal ahead. The writing is clearly on the wall.
