Just had a couple of conversations on the coaching search and it's starting to sound more and more like Dana Holgorsen is in fact the lead candidate and increasingly gaining traction.
One of the statements I heard today was "I think it happens".
Another source told me that Holgorsen was displeased with his situation in Morgantown and that he was very disappointed he didn't get offered an extension sooner. I was told that WVU made an offer to extend after he started the season 5-0 and he told them to talk to him at the end of the season.
I keep hearing from multiple sources that he wants to be here.
I also heard that he would assemble a staff with strong Texas ties and the three names I've heard that would likely join him are Jake Spavital who is currently offensive coordinator at Cal and Zac Spavital who is on Kingsbury's staff at Texas Tech. I've also heard (which we've previously mentioned) that WVU receivers coach Tyron Carrier would likely join him in Houston as well.
I keep hearing that he will assemble a solid staff and there are coaches that want to be in Houston, including the Spavital brothers.
