It was a great win last night for us. The conference as a whole is also playing at a much higher level.
Cincy is 7-1, wins against Ole Miss, UNLV, George Mason, loss against Ohio State in their first game. Three critical games coming up for them against Xavier, Miss State and UCLA.
Temple is 7-1 and is probably the most impressive team till now with wins against Georgia, LaSalle, California, Missouri, St Joseph, only close loss against VCU. Critical games coming up against Villanova and Davidson.
UCF is 6-1 projected to win our conference. Has a bad loss against Florida Atlantic but has wins against Alabama and Saint Joseph. Critical game coming up against Missouri.
UConn is 6-1, one loss against Iowa but have win against Syracuse. Critical games coming up against Arizona, Florida State, and Villanova.
USF is 6-2 who would have thought. Loss against citadel and overtime loss against Georgetown in a very well fought game. Does not have any marquee wins and should be able to win the rest of their OOC schedule.
SMU and Tulsa are 5-3 with no marquee wins. They gave some marquee teams coming up that will tell us more. But still surprised to see winning records from them.
Wichita State is 4-3 with wins against Providence and Baylor. Their loses to Davidson, La Tech and Alabama all good teams. Lot better team then people expected. Upcoming games against Oklahoma and VCU are critical.
The next three teams ECU, Memphis and Tulane are not good enough to have post season considerations. Memphis and Tulane are clearly underperforming and have losing records. But ECU has a winning record.
So, we have 10 out of 12 teams in the conference with winning records more then what I have seen in recent times. I clearly see that the first 5 teams in the conference as good enough to get into NCAA (Houston, Cincy, Temple, UConn and UCF) that is more then what we have sent. I see two out of the four of USF, Wichita State, SMU and Tulsa to be in NIT. That puts more then half the conference between NCAA and NIT pointing to a really strong conference this year. We shall see, next 4 games will tell us more.
