Coach Sampson recruits a different type player. I know some are consumed by stats etc. Sampson looks for the guy who is team oriented and does the little things. You must play defense to get PT for him.
I find it interesting that Coach Brooks retweeted a tweet by John Lucas the other day as follows:
There are 13 guys on a team. They all can't be the #1 scorers. I think sometimes that is what hurts UT. They all want to be the big guy and nobody wants to do the grunt work. Galen Robinson is a perfect example of a Sampson guy. Doesn't look to score but pushes the ball, gets in your face defensively, runs the show and not looking for his stats. I will not be surprised to see Sampson fill the two roster spots will a role player or two who fill certain roles. Of course if a 5 star stud wants to be here sure... but Sampson is more apt to find that juco role player or transfer that makes the team better.
