Back when we were interviewing for our head coaching position did we consider Neal Brown. Yes, I know he just beat LSU and that gets everyone's attention.....now. But there were other data points that said he is going to be the real deal. Brown has turned around a football program at Troy doing much more with way less, something we have been familiar with in our past. His first year, Brown went 4-8. I am sure some of the Trojan faithful were concerned in his first year. Last year, however, Brown led Troy to a 10-3 season which included putting a scare into Clemson, the eventual national champs.
I know we have our guy and I support him 100%. It may take CMA a year or so to get the Coogs into position where we could go into a place like Baton Rouge and come out with a win. CMA is not showing that he could go into Norman in 2019 and do that so far. Next year, like Brown at Troy in 2016, I would look for definite results that shows the Coog faithful we made the right choice. Perhaps we will see something along those lines this year. Otherwise, every time Brown does something outstanding at Troy, we will be reminded that we could have had this guy.
