As to the playoff possibility I admit it is a reach to say the least. But remember 2016? Most of the talking heads have said that if we had run the table we would have been part of that year's playoff conversation. We took care of business by beating a top 5 OU and Louisville but stubbed our toe on the lesser teams.

Fast forward to 2019. We will have a top ranked OU. (not sure how high) And we will have a top ranked Washington State. (they have a real shot at winning the Pac12) We also will have a ranked UCF on our schedule even if we beat them this year. There should be one or two more AAC teams pop up on our schedule that could be ranked when we play them.

We would have to run the table but it would not be unreasonable to think that we would be ranked when the CFP's rankings come out. How high? Who knows? But UCF is ranked 12th without beating a ranked team so far. We could have already beaten 3-4 ranked teams when we play them in 2019. So who knows how high we would be ranked if we ran the table.

Just like before. All the P5 teams that are in competition for that 4th CFP slot have to lose 1 or 2 games and probably 2. And UH has to remain unblemished with at least 3-4 wins over ranked teams.

This is just spit balling but there is a long shot pathway that exists for us in 2019 in my opinion.
Remember when all these threads start popping up next year about how we could make it to the playoffs that you heard it here first.
