OK, so apparently Flugaur and BTM (Big Ten Man) got together this past Sat for dinner. Out of this discussion it seems that OU/KU are still interested in the Big 10 and vice versa. This stems from another meeting with OU/KU/Neb non-official reps back in Kansas (KU/OU BB game) in 2017 in Feb to discuss potential steps forward in conference realignment. Flugaur knows a Nebraska person who has seen the notes taken from said meeting. (said person helped non-official Neb rep)
A few years ago OU/KU opened their books for Big 10 expansion....not Rutgers, the next one. Big 10 back-channeled talks with Rutgers for over 6 years. These back-channel talks with OU/KU have happened twice now.....opened books 2013, and 3 non-officials in 2017. OU/KU are a package deal if it happens. Plus, they want to keep all options open, including staying with a reformed Big 12. This centers around the third tier negotiations with ESPN, etc in 2021-2022.
In addition OU is meeting on Monday, 26th with the BOR to appoint a new president to replace David Boren who will step down on June 30th.
